Debanjan Sen, our elder son, Best All Rounder 2007 of La Martiniere for Boys, Kolkata, football and hockey captain in St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, passed away on 4th June 2011 at the age of 22.
To keep his passion for sports, especially football alive, a sports foundation, Debanjan Sen Foundation, was formed in December 2011.
In July 2012 the Foundation launched the 'Keventer Cup'. The inter-school football tournament was an instant success. In 2016, 40 schools had participated.
In December 2012, the inter-school athletic meet for both boys and girls was introduced. In its 5th edition there this too had 40 schools participating. The popularity of this event marks the growth of a true sports culture in schools.
To meet the sporting aspirations of young girls, in football, Keventer Cup for Girls was introduced in September 2013. Today, more than 16 schools are into serious football.
Having successfully ignited passion for the 'beautiful game', the Foundation, as part of its future plans, proposes to introduce grassroots football to more than 70 schools in the next 3 years. Its goal is to change the face of football in the schools. This transformation will only be possible if the aim is supported by resources, Help us to build those pillars.
