Antara is a Non -Governmental, Non Profit, Secular, Voluntary and Apolitical Organization established in the year 1971, registered under WB Societies Registration Act 1961, with Regn. N.S/12398 of 1972-73, Licensed under the Mental Health Act 1987, License No. L/MHA-29/02/R-06/12 & under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 (FCRA) FCRA 147110026. Antara operates a 200 bedded Psychiatric Hospital at Antaragram, Baruipur Kolkata 700 145. This center is established in a 7 acres plot of land situated in a natural, serene and beautiful environment, accommodates Out Patient Department (attended by about 250 patients every day), Indoor Hospital with separate facilities for Acute, Sub-Acute, Special Care, Addiction Treatment, Day Treatment, Family Therapy and Rehabilitation Facilities for adults as well as children. Antara has a holistic approach to mental health, whereby it runs awareness and counselling programs for the society at large, for communities, schools, families and individual with the objective of building a mentally healthy society.
To aid in the treatment, recovery and rehabilitation of patients, there are various facilities at this Centre for Recreation, Vocational Training, Work Therapy, Aesthetic Therapy and Counselling.
