| VIDYA is a registered not-for- profit organization that has been dedicated to the education and empowerment of underprivileged children, youth and women through micro-level intervention for the last 30Years. VIDYA today is a multi-layered organization that has initiated grass-root level development programmes in some of the poorest neighbourhoods in Delhi, Haryana, Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune. These include schools and programmes in remedial education, computer training, open school, adult literacy, skills training and social entrepreneurship. We have made a difference in the lives of over 3,00,000 families and are supported by a strong team of 350 personnel. The team includes local and foreign volunteers, teachers and staff as well as a large circle of committed friends, donors and well wishers. Their efforts paved the way for the establishment of The VIDYA School Gurgaon in November 2009, which provides state-of- the-art infrastructure for holistic educational training to underprivileged children at par with the best public schools in the country. The School is a CBSE affiliated educational institution with classes from Nursery to Standard XII. Through 30 years of working together to encourage awareness and self-worth amongst the economically challenged, the name VIDYA has grown to be synonymous with stories of incredible success. Our wide spectrum of activities clearly speaks our mission, which is to educate, empower and transform lives. VIDYA activities can broadly be divided into 2 main areas –Holistic Education and Women’s empowerment programmes. VIDYA’S approach to education is to offer a holistic all - round development programme that covers pre-schools, primary schools from classes nursery to V and a Senior secondary education for drop-out youth to prepare them for a further study or a vocation. VIDYA School in Gurgaon is affiliated to CBSE and has classes from Nursery to Standard XII. For young girls and women, VIDYA conducts several programmes that empower and build capacity, covering an integrated development in education, Health, Skill Training, Micro-Enterprise and Income. VIDYA has a 30 year old track history of working with a holistic education and has a large alumni base of children who have been successfully educated through VIDYA’s Bal Vihar Schools and VIDYA School Gurgaon who are leading a fruitful life.
